Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center, known as Livermore Valley Arts, is an independent, 501(c)3, non-profit organization that operates two spaces: the Bankhead Theater and the Bothwell Arts Center. The mission of LVA is "to offer a broad range of arts opportunities and experiences to engage our diverse community."

LVA's vision: Become the heart of a vibrant cultural arts community.

What started as an internship during high school luckily turned into a career for me after graduating. I was able to work part-time creating posters and flyers for events, and even spent some time photographing events and helping with set up as a volunteer.

Once I left Best Buy, I decided to begin working as a Graphic Designer full-time. The theater happily brought me on and began assigning me more meaningful work. I was creating large banners for performances, season brochures that would be in the hands of over 500 donors and patrons, newsletters offering a look into the business aspects of running the theater, and digital displays and window decals promoting upcoming events and performances.

A few years in, I had taken on the role of Print Manager (in addition to my graphic design responsibilities), handling all aspects of our in-house printing processes.

This was helpful in learning proper techniques for preparing various materials for printing in multiple mediums.

I had also taken on the role of Photographer, capturing events and using my own images for any projects or marketing campaigns that required them.

2019 - 2020 Season Brochure

As a graphic designer, I worked on creating multiple season brochures for the Bankhead Theater. These are promotional documents that provide information about upcoming events, performances, and activities during a particular season.

My role was to design the layout, select fonts, colors, and images, and create a visual hierarchy that highlights the most important information. Working closely with the marketing team and creative director, I aimed to accurately reflect the style and tone of the organization and the current season's offerings, while also ensuring the design was visually appealing and eye-catching. The end result was a stunning brochure that effectively conveyed the artistic vision and spirit of the theater and highlighted the various performances and events that audiences could look forward to.

The above are just a few spreads from the brochure. You can view the full brochure below.

Invitations

Some invitations I designed for two of the theater's larger events. These invitations were designed and created entirely by me and made to reflect the overall brand and design of the current season which was also determined and created by me.

2018 - 2019 Season Brochure

My role in this brochure (similar to the first) was to design the layout, select fonts, colors, and images, and create a visual hierarchy that highlights the most important information. Working closely with the marketing team and creative director, I aimed to accurately reflect the style and tone of the organization and the current season's offerings, while also ensuring the design was visually appealing and eye-catching.

2017 - 2018 Season Brochure

Similar to the previous two brochures, this was one of the first season brochures I had full control over. It was great practice and I learned a lot from it that I was able to apply to my next two brochures.

Banners

These large banners were displayed hanging in the lobby of the theater to promote upcoming shows. These were my idea and I was responsible for finding the vendors to produce them, designing, and ordering them. I considered them a pet-project of mine while I was there that ended up becoming a large visual aspect of the theater.

Overall, my time spent at the theater included a wide variety of design mediums and projects. Above is just a selection of some of the printed materials I had created during my time there.
